The Style and history of The Garden Villa

With a long history, this 19th century Croatian villa has

been renovated to a sleek “homey-like” 21st century house.

This exclusive vacation villa has been completely renovated and has an entirely new interior – a mix of traditional Mediterranean and a contemporary style with modern comfort.  Its seven suites will make everyone not want to leave. All rooms are designed to have large windows that release the sun in each corner of the house giving it a special feel when combined with original, high ceilings. It makes you want to lie down the entire day or chill by the window with a good book in your hand. The architecture of the large villa is more than impressive with its elegance and highlights, a perfect combination of strong functionality, historical details, minimalist designs and high modern standards.

The history of luxury villa begins in 1825 during the Austro-Hungarian reign and it was first mentioned as a small farm that was graphed on Viennese maps from that time. The land of the villa was surrounded by fields of lavender, citrus fruits and rosemary plants, traditional Mediterranean crops that, even today, can be seen all over Dubrovnik. In 1885 the owner of the building requested a permission for further construction and today, this luxurious holiday villa in Dubrovnik stands proud and glorified. It keeps the charm of a traditional Dubrovnik villa with a modern twist designed for luxurious holidays and treats.

Contemporary, urban style

The Villa keeps the charm and style that were originally planned by the first architecture who worked at the mansion. The main villa has a professional kitchen, beautiful open-space concept for spacious dining area and wide living room, 5 double bedrooms with each having its own bathroom. The kitchen leads to a beautifully designed covered patio that will make you love spending your holidays, outside in autumn and spring as much as you will love it in summer. Here, you can prepare barbecue dinners for your friends and family and entertain over the spacious and beautifully designed summer dining area. Spending evenings and nights here will make your vacation in Dubrovnik even more joyful as you can enjoy the starry Dubrovnik’s sky and its city lights in full view.

Exploring the pearl of the Adriatic

This beautiful, luxurious Dubrovnik villa is based on a perfect spot

from which you can start  sightseeing this medieval,

remarkable and currently the most popular European destination – Dubrovnik!

Many popular world travel magazines and newspapers called this pearl of the Adriatic the most outstanding destination in the Mediterranean Sea due to its beautiful, traditional, medieval architecture and see-through, clear, turquoise sea. Placed on the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites back in 1979 due to its interesting history and historic buildings.

While in Dubrovnik, we suggest taking this opportunity to visit and experience:

• Stradun, the main street

•  Museums in Dubrovnik

•  Dubrovnik Summer Festival

•  Ancient city walls

•  Game of Thrones walking tours (for GoT fans)

Nearby places

In the city that is gloriously bathed with the Mediterranean sun, you can enjoy in vast activities. In just a few minutes of walk from the lux Dubrovnik villa you will find a popular Banje beach and if you wander a little further you can completely explore all the delights that this city offers. From its character and culture, this ancient, UNESCO protected city will offer you a glare at its intriguing churches, historic palaces and superb restaurants.

Lots of traditional Croatian outdoor kitchens and restaurants called “konoba” where you can try traditional, local dishes and seafood prepared on the wood-fired grill. Something you don’t want to miss when visiting Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik is a popular city on the Dalmatian coast that offers a wide range of restaurants and places to dine. To be more exact, you’ll find more than 60 restaurants in Dubrovnik. Whether you’re for the “all-silvery-luxurious” service to the rustic charm of this town it won’t be a problem to find exactly what you’re looking for. The menus and food you can find in Dubrovnik’s restaurants are mostly based and focused on local food and specialties, although you’ll be able to find international cuisine also, such as French, Mexican or sushi restaurant.

 Banje Beach

Even though The Garden Villa has an outdoor pool you can enjoy while having your holiday in Dubrovnik, you simply need to jump in the beautiful Adriatic sea. The closest sandy beach, just 20 minutes of casual walk through the ancient city streets , is a popular city beach, the Banje beach. This is the most popular beach in Dubrovnik due to its divine sand and closeness to the Pearl of The Adriatic. It offers a beautiful heavenly view to the peaceful Adriatic sea. Here, you can rent a pedal boat and ‘drive’ yourself to Lokrum island  or challenge yourself and rent a Jet Ski and experience the city in the speed ride from the sea. Another interesting thing you can do while there is to try and play popular “Picigin” game. The main idea of the game is to keep a small ball from touching the ground. You’ll see lots of locals play Picigin and if you don’t have someone to play with, we’re sure they will welcome you into their team. Feel free to try out this game while on vacation in Dubrovnik and see why locals love playing this game so much.

Enjoying the great view and sipping cocktail while soaking up the sun is great, but this is not all this beach has to offer. Here, you can find Banje Beach restaurant lounge and club called Lazareti that is a combination of luxurious interior, beautiful terrace with the view and the beach floor. This nightclub is a great combination of intimate, glamor and extravagant space combined into one where you can hear popular DJs, musicians and live performances.
The only issue that you might meet is absence of parking space, but this is not a problem as your luxurious villa that you rented is only 15 minutes of beautiful walk through the city and the bus station is just 20 meters away from the popular beach. Isn’t that great?

Pile Gate

This is the starting point for any tourist excursion in Dubrovnik and it’s close to The Garden Villa. The remarkable Pile gate was built in 1537. with an impressive statue of St Blaise set over the arch. After you pass through the gate you’ll see the main Dubrovnik street – Placa that is commonly known as “Stradun”, Dubrovnik’s popular promenade.

Lovrijenac – The medieval fortress

The fortress that was used as a filming location for many TV shows and movies. It is one of the most breathtaking and impressive popular locations in Dubrovnik that you can’t miss visiting while having your holidays in Dubrovnik. The main reason why this fortress was built was to serve the purpose for the dependence of the west Dubrovnik. It is built on a 37 meters high rock that overlooks the Adriatic sea.

Minceta Tower

Minceta tower was build in 1319 as a high fort designed by the local architect Nicifor Ranjina. It is a strong fort based on the northern side of the wall. The name Minceta comes from the Mincetic family who owned the land on which the tower was built. It’s the highest Dubrovnik defense system and for more than 100 years its designed surely

 Big Onofrio’s Fountain

Built in the 15th century, the Big Onofrio’s Fountain is a container with 16 sides and a cupola above. It was built as one of the aqueduct system’s ending points. What is interesting about this fountain is that at each side has a unique, stone-carved, masked face design that has been damaged by the earthquake in 1667 and one of the recent repairs that caused major damages that are present this day. The fountain’s cupola was designed and made by Petar Martinov. The cupola had a dragon statue on top that was heavily damaged in the mentioned earthquake, therefore, is now missing and still hasn’t been restructured or repaired.

Nightclub “Fuego”

This is the one the oldest nightclubs that are still working in Dubrovnik. Years of experience and different music is a guarantee of a good time. The area of the club is really impressive with a beautiful terrace, nice interior and friendly, professional staff.
